July's "Case of the Month" is actually is 3 cases; all dealing with adolescents. Rachel, Kendyl and Grace all started care about the same time. They are all
between 10 and 16 years old.

Rachel came in with her Mom and described her problem of having severe headaches coming from behind the eyes and the base of her skull for weeks. Her pain was a 7 on a
10 scale and worse in the morning and after sitting at school and exercising. Rachel plays lacrosse 2 hours a day, twice a week and also practices Greek dancing.
The pain was intense enough on some days for her to miss both of these activities.
Prior to seeing us, Rachel had been diagnosed and treated with no results. The initial doctor said the cause was coming from increased skull pressure and carrying too
heavy of a backpack.
Our assessment found nerve pressure at the C1-C2 vertebral level with the primary cause of a right sided misaligned (subluxation). We also found muscle and nerve
tension in her upper back and hip as well as pronated feet and a distorted and rotated left leg. After her first visit which included adjustments from her feet to her
neck, cold laser therapy and muscle work Rachel reported a 25% improvement.
Her following 2 visits provided significant relief for 4-5 days but were followed by 2 days of headaches and nausea. As we fine tuned the cervical and thoracic
adjustments her headaches completely resolved and within 3 weeks she was pain free.

Kendyl and Grace are sisters. Grace came in because of upper back tension that was unrelenting. She was asking her mom to rub her back every night to help relieve
the pain. Examination showed a rotated clavicle and shoulder blades, tight para-spinal muscles on both sides and subluxations in neck, mid back and low back. Within
3 visits Grace was pain free, much happier and functioning and moving better.
Kendyl had seen us 2 years ago for shin splints. This visit showed upper back and neck stress that gave her pain and reduced range of motion in her neck and shoulders.
Examination showed a backward subluxation pattern in her upper back and lower neck, possibly from a prior whiplash injury. She also had very tight muscles coming off
the spine to her inner scapulas. Inflammation and edema was present indicating a long standing problem. We muscle tested and "up regulated" with the cold laser to
turn on muscles in her upper arms that were not working as well as adjusted her back and hips. Each visit finished with the Impulse Adjusting Instrument using a
technique I learned in Atlanta last month.
Because of Kendyl schedule and busy social life, we were unable to meet our goal of 80% improvement in less than 1 month. We did, however, get to that level with 6
weeks. She had one episode of increased pain from "sleeping weird" which quickly resolved. We also found significant improvement from adjusting both girls' feet
and knees.

These patients are always fun to work with as children get changes very quickly with our care. They are all on a wellness program at present. It's also very
rewarding to help get our next generation off on the right foot with conservative, natural health care.
