The Craniosacral System The craniosacral system consists of a system of membranes inside the cranium, the spinal cord, the brain, cerebro-spinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord, and 22 cranial bones. It extends from the bones of the skull, face, and mouth (the cranium) down to the sacrum.Craniosacral Work Craniosacral work is safe and gentle form of bodywork using a light touch to encourage your body and central nervous system to balance and heal itself. It is a wholistic approach to healing supporting optimal health to your mind, body, and spirit. What can you expect in a session? Craniosacral treatment begins after completing a thorough consultation and evaluation. Each session begins with a "check-in" between you and Kellie after which you will be invited to lie on the comfortable treatment table. Time on the table during a typical 90 minute session runs between 60 and 80 minutes. During that time, you will feel several contacts and may feel more deeply relaxed. Through a deepening of self-awareness and through your own inner process, over time you begin to let go and release areas of resistance held within the body caused by trauma or illness. Responsive, receptive, intuitive sessions are emphasized in this work. It is not about "fixing" a problem. Our bodies’ ability to self correct is honored. Craniosacral work is about listening and following and allowing the innate wisdom of the body to express itself fully and to assist the release of blockages and bring all systems into balance. Wear loose comfortable clothing with no belts, ties, turtlenecks, jeans or spandex. Make sure you are well hydrated before the session. Allow transition time before and after the session to assist your body in integrating the session. Time in nature after the session is ideal. What are the benefits of a session?
Craniosacral work is beneficial for people of all ages from newborn babies to the elderly. From those who are experiencing acute conditions due to a recent injury, to those experiencing chronic problems, to those who feel fine and want to experience greater vitality and a deeper sense of calm and balance.
